So sometimes I want to do this:
But then I watch this and laugh really hard.
This really puts life into perspective. Hahahaha....
This blog is like me.. Completely random. Music, fashion, photography, food, movies, books... Good luck following my crazy stream of consciousness!

Whoa 25.
Last Monday was my 25th birthday.
It started out how most birthdays start out now-a-days - with about 100 facebook posts. Thanks, facebook, for making me feel special for a day. Haha.
So I got to work, only to find out that my coworkers forgot my birthday. With just three people in my office regularly, I was a bit bummed. After a couple of hours, one of my coworkers who doesn't work on Mondays, called in and sang to me over the phone. It was at the point that my boss overheard and she freaked out and ran out of the office in a tizzy. Meanwhile, my dad sent me my 25 pink roses to work:
So, after a little while, my coworker takes me to our other office where this is waiting for me:
After work I headed to the parents' for dinner. Oh man was it good.
And, my parents surprised me with an iPad. I was so blown away and blessed!
The day after my birthday, I did this:
I'm kind of obsessed with it.
This weekend is the extended celebration, and I'm going to go visit cousins in Orlando and flip out at Universal again. I can't wait! Have a great week!

Melancholia
I posted this back in 2007, and I am totally feeling it again:
Here are a couple of tips about friendships:
If you're married, or plan on getting married someday, don't forget your friends who are still not married. Just because you're married now does not mean you're better than them. Don't only hang out with your married friends. Is is really worth it to blow off these people who you have invested years into just because you have different marital statuses? If you do that, then when your old friends finally do get married do you think they're going to want to hang out with you now, just because your in the same point in life? Negative.
I guess this goes for any point of life when you move on and others stay behind. When you graduate high school and go on to college, don't forget about your high school friends... When you graduate college, don't forget about those who are still in school.
I guess what I'm trying to say is appreciate your friends. They help make you who you are. It takes a long time to build close friendships.. It's a shame to lose friends just because you're in different walks of life...
So many weddings. 4 out of the 5 Saturdays in October I have a wedding, whether attending or playing.
Hope everyone is having a good almost weekend. I know I am so ready for it.
Much love,
the perpetually single girl,
Katy.
PS.. I am totally okay with being single, just not okay with non-single people who don't hang out with us "poor single people".

Almost Recovered..
So last weekend was my friend's wedding. At this point I think I am finally (almost) recovered from it. Haha.. Her day was exactly how she wanted it. It was absolutely perfect for her. My favorite part was when the doors opened up for her, her *now* husband had tears streaming down his face. It was so sweet.
That's all the pictures I have of the wedding... I'm in another one in March. Hopefully I'll be fully recovered from this one in time for that one. ;)

McGraw Family Reunion
So this weekend was my gigantic extended family's cousin reunion. I really mean gigantic.. My great grandmother was the oldest of 13. In the next generation (my grandmother's) there's around 54 people (plus spouses) and in the 3rd generation (my mom's) there are around 105ish people (plus spouses) and then in my generation there are already 60something people.
Every year on Labor day the family gets together in Dothan, Alabama at one of the cousins' houses and it's pretty fantastic. 5 of the original 13 siblings were there.
On Saturday, they had this couple who played a ton of different instruments and were dressed in colonial garb. I got to play is violin.. It was fun. :)

His name was Chuck. He was excellent.
Creepy face on a tree...
I also found some gems in the old family albums:
1989. Yes, that is my mother in the middle with the poodle hair.
From left to right: random cousin (ha), my mom, my aunt Teresa, my dad, and my uncle Keith.
1993, I believe (the year before my brothers were born).. I'm the one in the front on the far left with the ginormous bow.
Little Whit helping put the chairs away.
The horse, I mean dog, Rudy
The kids all went out and had a mud fight in the river... I missed out on that one. OH well.
Baby Chloebelle.. Her feet didn't quite touch the ground in her walker. Haha.
My great-great uncle Joel giving a devotional on Sunday before lunch.
And the McGraw family wall. HUGE family.
I hope everyone else had an excellent Labor Day weekend!

Wearing White before Labor Day!
Yes, I still follow that old-fashioned rule. What can I say? It's been taught to me since birth.
Seeing as next Monday is Labor Day, I've been wearing white pretty much every day.
Here's my outfit yesterday for our open house at work.. I liked it. :)
Blazer: White House Black Market
Shirt: Express
Skirt: Anthropologie
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
